Baby Steps for Our Big Girl...

Alright, last night was #3 in our attempts to get Lucy to sleep in her big girl bed in her new room. The first night she finally fell asleep after about 2 hours only to wake up crying 2 hours later. In the interest of letting Abby sleep we put Lucy back in the crib in her old room and she fell right to sleep and we didn't hear another peep out of her until the morning.

Night #2~ she lasted about an hour before she had had enough and started crying. Thinking she would refuse (because she did the night before) I asked her if she wanted to go into the crib. She called my bluff and and said yes...grrrrrr.... Since Abby needed to sleep because it was a school night we put her in the crib. Same thing happened...went right to sleep and didn't hear from her again until the morning.

Night #3~ HA! Lasted all of 10 minutes before the crying and sobbing started. This time she didn't wait for me to ask...she told me she wanted to go into the crib...put her in and she was....yep, out like a light!

Naps are going really well in the big girl bed so I am hoping we can slowly make the transition (taking baby steps) to the night time sleeping as well.

Any advice?

No advice for you. My Buddy was almost 3 when we switched him to a big bed and he went to sleep without a problem. I think he was just "ready". I think you're doing the right thing by taking baby steps. Lots of new stuff going on for her right now. Would she maybe sleep on the floor, close to her sister's bed so that she felt "safer"? Maybe once she feels comfortable in the room *at night*, she would be okay to sleep in there. Good luck!

Sounds like your having the same dilemmas we have been having! Our 2 year old is transitioning to a toddler bed but he shares a room with our 5 year old and now our 5 year old has to fall asleep in our room because our 2 year old keeps him up! Whew....it is neverending!!

Great blog! I will check back often!
